PMA or paramethoxyamphetamine is a stimulant and hallucinogenic substance, closely related are PMEA, 4-ETA, 4-MTA.
Appearances:
Powder, mostly pressed into pill form.
Dosage:
10 - max. 30 mg
Effect:
Effect initially comparable to alcohol, later hallucinations and mild euphoria, tingling, numbness of the skin and limbs, abrupt increase in blood pressure and body temperature even at low doses.
Onset of effect:
after approx. 60 min. (compared to 30 min. for MDMA)
Duration of action:
5 - 24 hrs.
Risks and side effects:
Racing pulse, rapid and heavy breathing, erratic eye movements and muscle cramps. Nausea and vomiting may occur, as well as cardiac arrhythmias, internal bleeding and cerebral haemorrhages in larger quantities. Danger of unconsciousness, organ failure and coma due to greatly increased body temperature (over 40 degrees) and high blood pressure! The toxicity is much higher than with MDMA. The effective dose of PMA is much lower than with MDMA and the effect sets in later. Overdosing by spiking can have serious consequences.
Some deaths from PMA are known!
PMA is possibly an MAO inhibitor, therefore mixed use with MDMA is not recommended. In general, do not mix PMA with other substances!
Consumption is strongly discouraged!
