
Paracetamol is an active ingredient and medicine that is taken for mild to moderate pain. It has analgesic and antipyretic properties. Paracetamol is also known as acetaminophen.

Paracetamol is commercially available in the form of tablets, effervescent tablets, drops, syrup, suppositories and as a solution for injection.

Dosage:
The recommended single dose is 500 - 1000 mg paracetamol. The maximum daily dose is 4000 mg. The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

The most common possible side effects include nausea, gastrointestinal complaints such as diarrhea, dizziness and skin irritation or allergic reactions. Paracetamol is highly toxic to the liver. Liver damage and liver failure are therefore possible with overdoses. If the dosage recommendations are followed, paracetamol is well tolerated.
Long-term risks:
The following side effects may occur with prolonged use of paracetamol: Tiredness, headaches, nervousness and restlessness.
