For some time now, anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) have been taken in professional sports for faster muscle mass build-up and performance enhancement. This trend has also established itself in popular sports, e.g. in fitness centers. Consumers hope that taking AAS will lead to faster aesthetic results, increased ability to regenerate and increased performance. This phenomenon is promoted by the current body culture and the desire for self-optimization.
Due to the very widespread and popular class of substances as well as the associated health risks (e.g., mixed use) when consuming them, the Drug Information Center (DIZ) has decided to publish detailed substance information on AAS on its own website, Saferparty.ch.
