3-MMC and caffeine sold as mephedrone
Risk assessment
This sample, sold as mephedrone, did not contain mephedrone, but a mixture of 3-MMC (3-methylmethcathinone) and caffeine.
3-MMC belongs to the cathinone group of substances and is very closely related to mephedrone (4-MMC). The effects of the two substances are therefore comparable. However, 3-MMC is described by users as less euphoric and empathy-enhancing than 4-MMC.
The effects of 3-MMC are mainly empathogenic (increasing empathy), entactogenic (intensifying emotions), stimulating, euphoric and aphrodisiac. With 3-MMC, the craving (strong desire to get high) is very pronounced and the psychological dependency potential is significantly higher than with other empathogenic substances such as MDMA or methylone.
Caffeine and an unknown substance were also detected. Mixed consumption with caffeine carries the additional risk of unpleasant side effects such as circulatory problems, restlessness and tremors. The unknown substance means an additional, unknown risk of consumption.
Little information is available on the risks, side effects and long-term consequences of 3-MMC.
Misdeclaration of powders and crystalline samples is common, so be sure to have them tested before consumption.

Have your substances tested in a Drug Checking
Testing
If you do not have the possibility to have substances analysed, always test a small amount to avoid overdoses.
Wait and see
Wait 2 hours after oral intake, as there are always powders / crystals in circulation with unexpected active ingredients, which can have a later onset of action.
Utensils
Always use your own sniffing utensils when applying powders nasally (sniffing) to avoid infecting yourself or others with diseases.
