Risk assessment

In addition to cocaine, 11% levamisole and 5% MDMA were detected in this sample, which was declared as cocaine.

MDMA is a synthetic amphetamine derivative and belongs to the group of entactogenic and emphatogenic stimulants. MDMA is one of the most popular illegal substances and is often consumed at parties. MDMA has a stimulating effect and is effective when snorted at lower doses than when swallowed. Due to the increased amount of MDMA in the sample, it is assumed that MDMA was deliberately added to the sample as an extender, possibly to simulate a higher purity content.

Levamisole is typically used as a cocaine extender as it both enhances and prolongs the effects of cocaine. In addition, levamisole has similar chemical properties and does not separate from cocaine when the hydrochloride is converted to a base. A high levamisole content increases the risk of vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions (shortness of breath, skin rashes, swelling of the lips, tongue or face) and nervous system disorders (numbness or even unconsciousness).

With powders and crystalline samples, false declarations occur again and again; it is therefore essential to have these tested before consumption!

Analysis

Have your substances tested in a Drug Checking

Testing

If you do not have the possibility to have substances analysed, always test a small amount to avoid overdoses.

Wait and see

Wait 2 hours after oral intake, as there are always powders / crystals in circulation with unexpected active ingredients, which can have a later onset of action.

Utensils

Always use your own sniffing utensils when applying powders nasally (sniffing) to avoid infecting yourself or others with diseases.
