The highly potent synthetic opioid protonitazene was found in an undeclared white powder ordered on the darknet .
Protonitazene is a synthetic opioid that is about 200 times more potent than morphine. Thus, even at very low doses, the substance can lead to life-threatening conditions, including respiratory depression. This risk is massively increased in the case of unintentional ingestion.
The sample was included in a darknet order as an undeclared free sample and was not identified as protonitazene.
