Risk assessment

A sample sold on the darknet as MDMA did not contain MDMA, but lisdexamfetamine.

The active ingredient lisdexamfetamine is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Lisdexamfetamine belongs to the active ingredient group of synthetic amphetamines and is subject to the Narcotics Act. The drug is a prodrug that is first converted into its active form, dexamfetamine, in the body.

On the one hand, there is a risk because lisdexamphetamine is dosed much lower (40 mg) than MDMA (80-120 mg). On the other hand, the effect is completely different. A lack of the expected effect can lead to the user topping up and thus overdosing.

With powders and crystalline samples, dangerous false declarations occur time and again. It is therefore essential to have powders and crystalline samples tested before consumption!

Analysis

Have your substances tested in a Drug Checking

Testing

If you do not have the possibility to have substances analysed, always test a small amount to avoid overdoses.

Wait and see

Wait 2 hours after oral intake, as there are always powders / crystals in circulation with unexpected active ingredients, which can have a later onset of action.

Utensils

When snorting or injecting powders, always use your own equipment to avoid infecting yourself or others with diseases.
