Risk assessment

One sample declared as 3-MMC did not contain 3-MMC, but 2-MMC and dimethylpentylone.

2-MMC (2-methylmethcathinone) is a rather newer NPS (New Psychoactive Substance) and a cathinone of the amphetamine group. There is no reliable information about its risks, toxicity, side effects and long-term consequences. 2-MMC is often marketed on the Internet as mephedrone (4-MMC) or 3-MMC substitute. According to user reports, the effect of 2-MMC tends to be compared to 2-FA or amphetamine (performance-enhancing and stimulating), which is why many users have experienced a somewhat different effect than expected. Thus, in case of a false declaration as in this case, the risk increases that a high dose of 2-MMC is consumed unintentionally.

Dimethylpentylone (also known as dipentylone) is also a stimulant from the cathinone group. The effects of 3-MMC and dimethylpentylone are presumably similar due to their chemical relationship. Users report a stimulating and euphoric effect. Side effects reported include palpitations, headaches, anxiety, irritability and weakness. It must also be assumed that the consumption of dimethylpentylone can trigger a strong desire for further consumption (craving). There is hardly any reliable information on dosage, side effects, toxicity and long-term effects.

More info about dimethylpentylone on external website...

The interactions between these two substances are completely unknown. Due to the lack of scientific studies on 2-MMC and dimethylpentylone, we advise against consumption! False declarations are often made for powders and crystalline samples; it is therefore essential to have these tested before consumption!

Analysis

Have your substances tested in a Drug Checking

Testing

If you do not have the possibility to have substances analysed, always test a small amount to avoid overdoses.

Wait and see

Wait 2 hours after oral intake, as there are always powders / crystals in circulation with unexpected active ingredients, which can have a later onset of action.

Utensils

Always use your own sniffing utensils when applying powders nasally (sniffing) to avoid infecting yourself or others with diseases.
