Risk assessment

A sample declared as mephedrone did not contain 4-MMC (mephedrone), but 4-CMC and 2-MMC.

4-CMC (4-chloromethcathinone) belongs to the cathinone group and is structurally related to 3-MMC. 4-CMC is described as having a strong performance-enhancing and euphoric effect. Some users report severe headaches as well as kidney and liver pain on the days following consumption. It is also reported that the substance can trigger a strong urge to re-dose, which increases the potential for addiction. 4-CMC is suspected of being highly neurotoxic. No information is available on further risks, side effects and long-term consequences of 4-CMC.

2-MMC (2-methylmethcathinone) is a rather newer NPS (New Psychoactive Substance) and a cathinone of the amphetamine group. There is no reliable information about its risks, toxicity, side effects and long-term consequences. 2-MMC is often marketed on the Internet as mephedrone (4-MMC) or 3-MMC substitute. According to user reports, the effect of 2-MMC tends to be compared to 2-FA or amphetamine (performance-enhancing and stimulating), which is why many users have experienced a somewhat different effect than expected. Thus, in case of a false declaration as in this case, the risk increases that a high dose of 2-MMC is consumed unintentionally.

The interactions between these two substances are completely unknown!

Due to the possible neurotoxic effect of 4-CMC and the lack of scientific studies on 4-CMC and 2-MMC we advise against consumption!

With powders and crystalline samples, false declarations occur again and again; it is therefore essential to have these tested before consumption!

Safer Use

Have your substances tested in a Drug Checking

If you do not have the possibility to have substances analysed, always test a small amount to avoid overdoses.

Wait and see

Wait 2 hours after oral intake, as there are always powders / crystals in circulation with unexpected active ingredients, which can have a later onset of action.

Always use your own sniffing utensils when applying powders nasally (sniffing) to avoid infecting yourself or others with diseases.
