Like 3-MMC, cocaine belongs to the group of stimulants and also has an uplifting and stimulating effect, but in comparison to 3-MMC it is not empathogenic (empathy-enhancing) and can lead to a strong craving (the urge to take more). Compared to 3-MMC, cocaine is dosed at a lower level, which carries the risk of overdosing. The effect occurs more quickly, but lasts less long. If the typical 3-MMC effect fails to materialize, there is a risk that a high dose of cocaine will be consumed unintentionally.
