Risk assessment

This edible sample, declared as THC , contains the semisynthetic cannabinoids Δ9-THCP and Δ8-THCP instead of THC.

Δ9-THCP (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) and Δ8-THCP (delta-8-tetrahydrocannabiphorol) are often offered as legal alternatives to ∆9-THC products ("classic" THC). Δ9-THCP and Δ8-THCP are THC derivatives that occur naturally in the cannabis plant in very small amounts, if at all. THCP is suspected to be much more potent than classical THC due to its chemical structure. However, we are not aware of any scientific data confirming this. There is no data available on risks and side effects, which is why there is an unknown risk when consuming these substances.

Due to the possible high potency, it is very likely that unintentionally a very strong intoxicating effect occurs which can quickly be overwhelming. High doses of cannabinoids can lead to vomiting, circulatory problems up to circulatory collapse, unpleasant intensification of feelings as well as paranoia and depressive moods. We advise against consumption!

Safer Use

Testing

With newly purchased, unfamiliar cannabis products, it is advisable to test only a small amount the first time (take two or three puffs) and then wait about 15 minutes for the effect to develop. If the effect is unusual, do not continue to use the product!

Mixed use

Avoid mixed use. Mixed use with other substances (including alcohol or medications) is very risky because of the unpredictable and still unknown interactions. Avoid mixed use with MAO inhibitors, opioids or tranquilizers.

Mix well

Mix your cannabis products well before consumption (ideally use a grinder) to avoid a high concentration of possible synthetic cannabinoids on individual flower parts. Particular care should be taken with residual material that has fallen off the outer parts of the flower, as this is often likely to contain a particularly high concentration of synthetic cannabinoids.
