Risk assessment

In a substance declared as cocaine, a mixture of caffeine, phenacetin, lidocaine, benzocaine and boric acid were detected. There is a risk that a large quantity of extenders will be ingested if the desired cocaine effect is not achieved and consumption continues as a result. These can lead to various side effects such as palpitations and nausea.

Like phenacetin and lidocaine, benzocaine is a local anesthetic.

Boric acid is used in very low concentrations in some eye drops as it has a disinfectant and antiseptic effect. With prolonged or intensive exposure, boric acid can be harmful to health, especially if inhaled or ingested. Animal studies have shown that boric acid can impair fertility. Due to the potential risks, boric acid is now used with caution or no longer used for medical purposes.

In the case of powders and crystalline samples, false declarations occur time and again; it is therefore also essential to have these tested before consumption!
